This website is a working handbook for data science in the Golden Lab. It is designed for students and collaborators who need practical guidance on:
- getting started on FASRC,
- working with shared and regulated datasets,
- organizing projects for reproducibility,
- collaborating through Git and GitHub,
- and preparing analyses for review, reporting, and handoff.
The site was expanded from the ideas in presentation.qmd, then reorganized into documentation pages so that the material is easier to revisit after onboarding.
What this site is for
Use this handbook when you need a lab default, a project scaffold, a pointer to the right infrastructure, or a concise explanation of why a workflow recommendation exists.
What this site is not
This is not a substitute for official FASRC policy, study-specific data use agreements, or project-specific SOPs. When those sources disagree with a local habit, the official requirement wins.
How to contribute
The best contributions are:
- corrections to outdated instructions,
- clearer examples,
- additions to the data and workflow guides,
- and links to lab-specific templates that save other people time.
When in doubt, prefer small improvements and clear examples over long policy text.
